BWH David E. Herlihy Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament For IPF Research
Join the Brigham and Women's Hospital David E. Herlihy Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament in support of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Research at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Dave Herlihy lived his life completely, always with great affection for his family and many friends.
He was diagnosed with IPF in May of 2008, and on July 29, 2009 Dave died peacefully at his home on Cape Cod. Despite being diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis,he spent his last days with his wit and spirit ever present. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife, Nonnie, his five children and 17 dear grandchildren.
The Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD) Center at Brigham and Women’s, together with the family of David E. Herlihy Sr., has created a patient registry to capture key clinical data from patients with chronic lung disease in order to facilitate further research in pulmonary fibrosis and other chronic lung diseases. Funds raised from the Herlihy Memorial Golf Tournament will be used to continue to build this registry and ensure that the ILD Center has the infrastructure to maintain the costs of the database and to collect and store samples critical to the study of pulmonary fibrosis.
The tournament will be on July 22, 2013 at the beautiful and historic Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton, MA.
